Join the Pikmin Collab

Posted by Eastbeast - June 20th, 2011

If you played a game called Pikmin, circa 2001 for gamecube, and you enjoy animating, you might be interested in this project. :) So far we've had animations from Artist Gamer Gal, and consultations with Legendary Frog, but we still need a few more animators! Ultimately this is a flash project using characters from the Pikmin universe. Artists are entitled to make a sketch involving these characters in anyway they see fit! Be sure to check out the forum for guidelines if interested! Also see what we've cooked up so far and tell us what you think of our animation samples in the forums.

What a timely collaboration!

Haha well I wish I knew how to animate in 2001, but flash didn't look so good, so better now than never ;) Do you have any interest in joining the collab?

I may be interested in joining. Loved Pikmin, and a flash sounds super fun.

I'd love to have you. It's been pretty fun so far, probably because Pikmin is so amazingly abundant with cool shit there is so much that can be done. Be sure to hit up the forum for more info, but I like giving people free creative reign to do whatever idea they have, within certain bounds of course

funniest thing is i was looking up piconjo in NG wiki and legendary's name came up.
lol they called him a theif.

not sure if that's true...

Yeah, Pikmin is one of my favourites. I may just have some time to do a little something for you ;)

Thanks :) Yeah I'd love to see something from you mang, you seem like a good artist :)

I don't mean to pry, but I looked through the whole collab thread. It appears you don't have one finished part in your five month collaboration. I've seen incredible ideas for collabs die dishonorably before, but a Pikmin Collab deserves much better than this. I would love to contribute to something like this, but there are some guidelines I have problems with. Some people only know what Pikmin is through Smash Bros. Although Brawl was a great game by all means, it doesn't have to be the MAIN source for inspiration when the topic is Pikmin. The two pikmin games on gamecube have enough characters, enemies, and concepts to make a very cute and funny collaboration for fans of the series.

From the sound of it, you've been looking for a time to bring the collab out of hiatus. You won't be able to do it without dedicated teammates. May I try my hand at making something? Pikmin has actually been on my mind lately.

Yeah I think Gustavos hit the nail on the head there. It was on hiatus for awhile because not enough decent animators were signing up, so I took the time to wait and contact certain people myself. I agree, it does deserve dedicated members and I'd be more than happy to have you on board. :)

On the side note, I also agree that the Pikmin games are the soul of this collab's momentum. With the guidelines, I wouldn't want to see any ssbb references that include other characters of the nintendo world. Then it would seem too much like a nintendo^64 collab, which is quite different. So you have a valid point there, because I can't really see someone doing a fitting part in this collab with brawl references either. So thank you for that point :)

^^^ This guy.

awwww yes 01, one of the best years for the now soon to be dead nintendo, where you went from mojoras mask 2000 to pikmin, one of gamings greatest advances in graphics brought to you buy a company that is known for crappy new consoles but wonderful games... sigh, ill miss you nintendo
